Can a Firming Body Wash Restore Health to Your Skin?

One of the inevitable results of the aging process is that our skin loses the firmness and pliability that it had when we were younger. If you have experienced this yourself, you may have tried a firming body wash in an attempt to restore a more youthful appearance. Depending on the quality of the product you chose, you may or may not have had results you were happy with.

Another type of product you may want to look into is a natural body firming cream. However, before choosing a firming skincare product it is important to understand some basics about the skin and what it is that causes the skin to lose its firmness as you age.

There are three essential components to the skin that help it to maintain its firmness. Collagen and elastin are two proteins that work together to give our skin a healthy appearance and feel. Collagen is responsible for skin having firmness. As we age, our body begins producing less and less collagen, leading to wrinkles and fine lines. As more collagen is lost the skin will begin sagging. Any type of firming body wash will need to address the issue of lost collagen.

Elastin is a protein that gives the skin its ability to stretch and then return to its original shape. A drop in elastin levels will also lead to loose and sagging skin.

The third component of skin that we want to look at is not nearly as well known as collagen and elastin. It is called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid works as the glue that holds the collagen and elastin in place, keeping the skin firm and healthy. Any firming body wash or natural body firming cream must address all three of these issues in order to be effective.

What I’m saying here is that in order to find effective firming products, it is important to be aware of the ingredients in the products you are using. Recent advancements in natural skin care science have led to the development of some extremely effective substances.

For instance, Cynergy TK has high levels of the protein, keratin. This functional form of keratin is able to be absorbed deep into the skin where it is able to help the body increase its production of collagen. Don’t bother looking for collagen as an ingredient. The molecules are too large to absorb into the skin, making collagen creams and lotions ineffective. Cynergy TK also increases the production of elastin. Clinical studies have shown that Cynergy TK increases collagen levels, resulting in fewer wrinkles, improvements in inflamed skin, and increased production of skin cells.

Another natural ingredient you should look for in a natural body firming cream is the extract from a sea kelp known as wakame. Wakame has long been prized by the Japanese for its ability to enhance the quality of the skin and improve health. A skin care ingredient called Phytessence Wakame has been developed from the extract of wakame.

With its high concentrations of vitamins and minerals, it is able to penetrate deep into the skin, nourishing it in ways few other substances can. Phytessence Wakame has been shown in the laboratory to protect hyaluronic acid from being destroyed by enzymes in the body leading to firmer skin and greater elasticity.

Along with other new, effective skin care ingredients that I discuss on my website, skin care products that use Phytessence Wakame and Cynergy TK can effectively improve firmness and elasticity of the skin. A firming body wash may still be something you will enjoy occasionally, but it will no longer be necessary.

Be aware though that these ingredients are not widely known in the West. They have been developed in New Zealand and have are used primarily by small, niche skin care companies.
