Curb Your Enthusiasm (Season 2) DVD Review

Nominated for 20 Emmys and winner of a Golden Globe for Best Television Series (Musical or Comedy), Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of the more clever and hilarious shows on TV. The HBO original series is the brainchild of Seinfeld co-creator and writer Larry David, whose life maintains a peculiar resemblance to the quasi-fictional George Costanza. And just like George Costanza and his neurotically-low self-esteem (i.e. “God doesn’t want me to be successful), Curb Your Enthusiasm propagates a Murphy’s Law theme of “what can go wrong will go wrong”. It’s a true-to-life reality show about nothing in which every episode is certain to cause comedy connoisseurs everywhere to tremble in enthusiastic anticipation…

Curb Your Enthusiasm centers around the actual life of Larry David - post-Seinfeld and living the high life in Los Angeles. Just like Larry’s other successful TV venture, the show doesn’t focus entirely on plot, instead following the mundane and routine adventures of a famous Hollywood insider. And just like his alter-ego George Constanza, Larry often witnesses simple acts and gestures on his part snowball into a series of misunderstandings and embarrassing situations. Accompanying Larry on his daily adventures are his wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) and his manager Jeff Greene (Jeff Garlin) as well as a host of Hollywood and Broadway celebrities who make regular guest appearances… Blurring the line between fiction and reality, Curb Your Enthusiasm is the perfect sequel to Seinfeld. In a nutshell, it’s a glimpse of what would’ve been had Jerry and George’s pilot been picked up by NBC (which ultimately raises the question - who wouldn’t love a show about a man sentenced to be another man’s butler?)…

The Curb Your Enthusiasm (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “The Car Salesman” in which Larry shocks his friends and family by deciding to take on a job as a car salesman. Meanwhile, Cheryl and Larry purchase a seaside holiday home from Jason Alexander’s agent only to learn that the abode comes with its own disturbing “house sound,” and Larry contemplates launching a new TV series with Jason chronicling the life of an unemployed typecast actor… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include “The Shrimp Incident” in which Larry comes to believe that an HBO executive stole some shrimp from his Chinese takeout order, and “Shaq” in which Larry earns the wrath of L.A. when he inadvertently trips Shaquille O’Neal at a Lakers game…

The Church of Christ and the Protestant Sects

Maybe some of you are wondering what makes the church (Church of Christ) where I belong, different from the Protestant Sects. You might say that they are all sects that believe in Christ and the salvation through His name. However, if we will examine the truth about them and their teachings, we’ll noticed the great difference, that is, between the Church of Christ and the Protestant Sects.

To let you know, the Church of Christ differs greatly from the Protestant Sects even on the way they worship God, use the Bible, interpret the words of God and many aspects in spirituality.

On this article, I will give you one teaching which makes the Church of Christ different from the Protestant Sects. This is the teaching on the value of the Church membership in man’s salvation.

Most of the Protestant Sects (if not all) believe or uphold the teaching that membership in the Church is not essential for man’s salvation, as it was written on a book:

“These Churches, by and large, do not basically declare that membership in the Church (a particular denomination) is essential for salvation, rather that it is through trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.” (Albert J. Sanders, D.D. Evangelical and Roman Catholic Beliefs Compared. page 20)

For them, they will attain salvation not by joining any churches but by just calling the name of Jesus Christ who is the Savior.

On the other hand, the Church of Christ upholds the teachings of Christ, (because Christ is the head of it,) that one should enter the fold or flock, which is the Church of Christ, in order to be saved. To trust in Jesus Christ is truly necessary for salvation, but this is proven by following His words, that is, by seeking membership in the true Church not because the Church saves but because it is that which Christ will save…

Just like what Christ said, anyone who will enter the fold will be safe:

“I am the door; anyone who comes into the fold through me will be safe.” (John 10:9, REB)

The fold mention here by Christ is His Church, Apostle Paul called it, Church of Christ:

“Take heed therefore to yourselves and to all the flock… the church of Christ which he has purchased with his blood.” (Acts 20:28, Lamsa Translation)

And it is the only Church that Christ will save because it is His on body.

“…and Christ is himself the Savior of the church, his body.” (Eph. 5:23, TEV)

In short, the Church of Christ is the church the will attain salvation on judgment day, while the Protestant Sects are just professing to be of Christ but are not really of Christ for they are not the true body of Christ.

CNN Anchor Kyra Phillips Turns Bad Press Into A Win…

How do you come out a winner when the bad press you get is national and it’s all over the Internet in 24 hours?

A winner is someone like Kyra Phillips, CNN anchor who accidentally took a microphone into the bathroom and then went on David Letterman to redeem herself.

Her reaction was on a scale with the bad press she got: national.

No matter where the bad press comes from, from the local paper to the national media, you can come out a winner if you adopt a transparent attitude, a sense of humor, if you’re authentic and if you have confidence.

Everyone goofs up once in a while. Companies also goof up once in a while. Maybe they overhyped the product, as a local paper accused Mannatech of doing.

But that accusation, even if true, doesn’t change what the product has done for anyone over the past 10 years, does it?

Hype and promises can kill good products.

Stick with YOUR story and the stories you know. That’s all I’d need. After all, everyone says their science and technology is the best. What matters first to me is whether it WORKS for me. Everything else is either second or irrelevant.

P.S. Silly comments like “It’s just a sugar pill” are usually from people with an agenda or axe to grind, on a par with “Oh, it’s just pond scum.” Like “the iPod is just another fad gadget,” from the lips of a competitor.

The Golden Girls (Season 1) DVD Review

Making its debut in the fall of 1985, The Golden Girls quickly established itself as a fixture of Saturday night prime time television. Following the lives of four older women living together as roommates in Miami, the show displayed a raw wit and a biting humor. The women live in the house of Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan), a Southern belle who loves men of every kind and has dated every eligible bachelor in the Miami area. Her roommates are former high school teacher Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur) and St. Olaff housewife and widower Rose Nylund (Betty White). Rose loves to tell stories about her former hometown, much to the chagrin of the other girls. The three are joined by Dorothy’s mother, the firebrand Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty), a spunky Italian immigrant who always speaks her mind. In her early 80’s, Sophia may walk at a measured pace, but the velocity of her sarcasm only increases with age.

Overall, this is a charming situation comedy with likeable characters who have certainly developed their own unique identities. Although some of the same aspects of the show tend to be used over and over again (such as the St. Olaff stories and Dorothy’s reaction to them), The Golden Girls never seems to grow tiresome. With powerful performances from each of the cast members, viewers will find that Sophia steals the show…

The Golden Girls DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the series premiere “The Engagement” in which Sophia Petrillo moves in with her daughter Dorothy and her two roommates, Blanche and Rose, after a fire destroys her retirement home, Shady Pines. Meanwhile, Rose develops a bad feeling when Blanche’s boyfriend Harry proposes… Other notable episodes include “The Competition” in which Dorothy and Blanche enter into a heated bowling competition with Rose and Sophia, and “The Operation” in which Dorothy is forced to undergo surgery on her foot. Feeling scared and sorry for herself, she develops a new outlook on life after her encounter with an inspirational hospital roommate…

Do You Prefer Tradition Over Truth?

If anybody is honestly interested in knowing whether or not this or that doctrine is actually biblical or merely traditional, all they have to do is objectively search the Scriptures like the noble Bereans did in Acts 17:11, after hearing Paul out, to see whether what he taught was true.

Examples:

The Church of God teaches, like Jesus, “the meek shall inherit the Earth.” Traditional Churchianity denies it and says folks “go to Heaven.” They have many such misunderstandings, idolatrous traditions and pagan myths like about being “born again and Heaven and Hell [http://ezinearticles.com/?&id=234978].

The Church of God keeps the same seventh day Sabbath as Yeshua and the early Church of God, both converted Jews, Israelies and Gentiles. The professing Christian world, under influence of Constantine — not Christ — keep pagan SUNday.

The Bible only states the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord [http://ezinearticles.com/?&id=119026], the Lord’s Day, and that God is consistent and doesn’t change but warned that some would “think to change the times and the laws” (Daniel 7:25).

The Sabbath-keeping Church of God keeps the same biblical festivals [http://www.gnmagazine.org/issues/gn48/biblicalfestivals.htm], the holy days of the LORD, that Yeshua and the early Church of God kept (both converted Jews, Israelites and Gentiles), with a new and improved understanding, in spirit and in truth, not just according to the letter of thelaw.

Traditional Churchianity is hostile to God’s holy days and have replaced them with their pagan Roman hollow days, even though biblical prophecy shows such baptized paganism will soon be history as Yeshua, the King of Israel, teaches Torah from Jerusalem and commands all nations to observe the “Jewish holidays” [http://ezinearticles.com/?&id=203343].

It is because of such glaring differences between TRADITIONAL Christianity (following its Roman leaders and Gentilized Jesus), and the Sabbath-keeping Church of God [http://www.ucg.org/booklets/CJ] following the Jewish Jesus, exposed by the plain truth teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong [http://ezinearticles.com/?&id=110620], that Mr. Armstrong was so hated by many of the angry religious leaders who couldn’t refute what he said and weren’t prepared to change for the better. They chose tradition over truth, just like many religious leaders did in the days of the Prophets and in the days of Yeshua. Nothing new under the sun.

Helping Small Business Consulting Clients in Denial

As a consultant involved in small business consulting, your clients may sometimes ask you why they need the more powerful or larger network you are recommending. Many may say their networks work great … most of the time.

Selling Small Business Consulting Clients Fear

When clients question your recommendations or are in denial about their needs, you will often have to sell fear. Talk to the small business consulting client about another customer that trusted his own PC-savvy bookkeeper so much that she was able to steal $50K from the company by covering her trails because no one else was paying attention to the network or its activities. Only the most naïve clients will trust every employee and person that has access to the building.

Security In Small Business Consulting

In real life, small business owners don’t typically think about security until an emergency arises. It’s your responsibility as a small business consulting expert to inform your prospects and clients about the importance of addressing security issues. Ask them to think about sensitive files including credit card numbers, social security numbers, trade secrets, payroll information and annual employee evaluations.

Client Needs

Small business consulting clients often are not thinking big enough when they question your recommendations for a different network. This is the point at which you should take the client through a thorough initial consultation, needs analysis, IT audit and site evaluation.

Often a small business owner will just ask for file sharing or e-mail, but if you delve deeper, you will discover the client needs more sophisticated technological elements.

If small business consulting clients say they don’t need better data security, you need to dig deeper. Find out where they store sensitive information and figure out how to design systems that will work with their particular needs.

Is Home Business Right For You?

The idea of a home business is very attractive to most people as it offers them the opportunity of being their own boss and working on their own hours. However, you should be careful because running and profiting from a home business is not as easy as an advertisement make it sound. It requires equal amount of time and hard work as a regular job or business and more of discipline and self-control than you might be used to.

There is no shortage of home business opportunities. All you need is a product idea and starting from there you need to go on an information gathering mission in order to determine the feasibility of your business project and getting to know what it will cost to start and run your own home business. There are also many opportunities for people who do not have a product idea of their own but would like to promote an existing business. These programs are known as affiliate programs and there are many such home business opportunities on the Internet.

Be careful though. The Internet is overcrowded with home business opportunities and there are many fraudulent websites that will take your money and simply tell you to do something silly in order to make a profit. Two of the oldest home business frauds involve the envelop stuffing and handling insurance claims. These programs will ask you for a modest amount of money (allegedly for equipment and training) but you never make enough money to recover your investment.

A good way to avoid scams is to do a thorough research on the business topic. Affiliate sites will never, ever, under any circumstances make you money unless your build a healthy downline. Do not listen to whatever the main business-offering website says, even in its testimonials. Search for third-party evaluations of a home business. Get references with telephone numbers and speak to people who have used the business directly. Unless you can contact the people in the testimonial, the testimonials are unreliable.

If a home business opportunity offers to make you money while working 1 hour a day (sometimes it can be 15 minutes a day) then ignore it. A genuine business opportunity will need some serious amount of hard work and time. It will never be so easy. Your income will directly be proportional to your inputs. For fifteen minutes a day, you will earn practically nothing so do not even go in that direction.

Home business is a good option for someone who wishes to fill in the time when the kids are in school, or perhaps your job does not involve long shifts, and so on. People do not start a home business with the idea of spending 8-10 hours per day on working. These people can only spare a couple of hours and their incomes match their efforts. They are not going to get rich this way.

Does Technology Help Or Hurt Attracting Desireable Sexy Women?

Sometimes I just have to laugh at the lengths some guys go to in order to avoid face to face contact with a real live sexy women. Guys tell me things like, “I emailed her” or “I texted her” or “I instant messaged her” or “I left a message on her voicemail while she was gone,” and all kinds of other stuff.

Then they want to know why sexy women don’t respond to them.

Understand this: while there are proper uses of technology, attraction is, and always will be an in person thing. The faster you go to meeting–and spending time–with sexy women, the better off you’ll be.

Technology has its uses, no doubt. The internet can be a great way to attract desireable sexy women you’d otherwise never meet, and things like emails, instant messages, text messaging and phone calls can be a great supplement to face to face meetings–but not a substitute.

Too many guys want to hide behind technology, using it as a shield to put off a face to face meeting as long as possible, simply because they’re scared of being rejected by the sexy women that everyone desires.

Your goal when you first attract sexy women is to meet them in person as soon as possible–nothing can substitute for that… now and in the future.

John Alanis has created the ultimate system to attract desireable women, regardless of your age, status, or looks. He runs the website, http://www.womenapproachyou.com , and his blog at http://www.johnalanis.com.

One Thing To Know When You’re Recruiting A Woman…

Over the years, most sales people approach men and women the same way -whether they’re marketing a product, service or a business.

But research has shown this is a mistake.

If a female prospect says yes, she’s interested in making some extra income from home, the guy will typically launch into how much he’s made, how great the company is, generally strutting his stuff. Kind of like a peacock displaying his feathers. This might work with another guy, but not with a woman.

With a woman, you lead with HER, not you. No matter how much you’ve earned. When women meet each other, they don’t brag about their accomplishments like guys do when they meet. Women ask about the other woman, and usually talk about their shared problems and how the other woman is dealing with them.

So begin by asking her a few questions first…in effect leading with her instead of you. Then you’ll know how to present your opportunity.

Listen to the answers because that will tell you whether to continue or not. Remember only 1/100 people have an interest in ANY kind of commission sales.

That includes people looking for something at home. No dragging or begging. Here are a few questions that show her you know how to talk to her.

1. Ideally what are you looking for? What do you enjoy doing?

2. Are you looking for something part time or a career change?

3. How much time can you put into something and about how much are you looking to earn?

These get you started. (More questions and recruiting scripts here.) Depending on what she says, you can fashion the options around what and how much she wants to do.

It’s not about what you wish she’d do.
