Composite Cards - The Starter Kit for Photography Models

What are comp cards?

In a nutshell, comp cards (short for composite cards) are a form of advertisement and promotion for fashion, glamour and other types of models. They come in many different shapes, layout styles and sizes giving models the benefit of being creative when choosing how their promotional piece will look.

Benefits of comp cards

You’ll find that there are many advantages of having composite cards made to promote yourself as a model. Here are just a few …

Professionalism

There is an old saying in the modeling industry; If you want to be treated as a professional model, look like a professional model. This stands true for the images you show also.

When you present your composite cards with beautiful, well-chosen photos to an agency representative or a potential client, he or she knows that you are serious about your career and will treat you as such.

By no means does this insure that you will get a job with that client or agent but it sure puts you way ahead of many of the other models who are in competition with you.

You will not get a second chance to make a first impression!!!

Don’t be so anxious to start your modeling career that you skip a step which could open (or close) a door for you. Your composite cards are that important. Be a professional and hand them a comp card instead of a snapshot.

Most people don’t throw away pictures

By now you may be thinking; “What if I just have normal business cards made to leave with agents and clients?”.

Yes, you could have business cards made for less trouble and expense and I encourage you to do just that. Business cards are another way of presenting yourself as a professional model.

But, agents and clients sometimes throw out business cards or they put them in their pockets and lose them.

Most people hesitate to throw away pictures which is what your comp cards look like. They are more likely to file your composites along with the other professional models in their files for future reference so you have at least a small chance that they will see your photo again. Which, by the way, leads to …

What do you look like?

One more thought about business cards. Unless there is a photo on the card you leave the client still won’t remember your look when she is ready to choose models to represent. Now it becomes your business card against the other 100 composite cards she has on file. Who will win out? You guessed it!!

In addition to your headshot on the front of the card, the agent can also see 4-5 pictures on the back along with your all-important stats. This is your contact information and other important aspects of what you have to offer as a model.

Give yourself a chance to model

Give yourself a chance to be seen and contacted by always leaving your composite card with all contacts. There is a certain safety in numbers, the comp cards are not that expensive, so don’t be stingy with them.

Composite card layout and design

Below is an outline for basic comp card design to give you an idea of what your card will include. You can see examples of composites at CompCard.Com . Notice how professional these look as compared to just sending a photograph.

The layout is pretty simple for a two-sided card

Front - The front will generally include a photo covering the front of the card (I suggest a good, strong headshot here) along with your name in bold letters.

Back - On the back there is room for about four to six images showing different looks (indoor and outdoor) in a variety of outfits with at least one good full-body shot (swim wear or tight-fitting clothing).

Also, on the back of the composite will be statistical information such as …

Contact information (Who to contact, phone, email, web address, etc.)

- Height
- Weight
- Bust size / Cup size
- Waist size
- Hip size
- Dress size
- Shoe size
- Hair color
- Hair length (short, shoulder length, long)
- Eye color
- Type(s) of modeling jobs preferred (i.e. commercial, fashion shows, runway, glamour, artistic, promotional, etc.)

How and where to get composite cards

It’s really a simple process to have your comp cards designed and printed.

IMPORTANT: The first step is to have photos made by a professional model photographer who can give you usage and reprint rights. I can’t stress enough the importance of starting with great pictures. If you send in a snapshot that your cousin Irma took, you’re going to get a snapshot on a comp card — A disaster!!

With that said, there is no need to feel overwhelmed with the details of getting your comp card ready. There are many companies online such as CompCard.Com who have design styles and templates online which will help you every step of the way.

Remember too that there are many different versions of comp cards so it’s all up to you how your finished composite card will look.

Now you can start your modeling career off right by having professional composite cards you’ll be proud to show. Just do it!!

Sexual Infidelity Like ‘Comfort Food,’ Says Investigator

It may not pass scientific muster, but a leading private investigator has developed a theory linking financial hardship such as that experienced during a recessive economy, with an increase in marital infidelity.

Likening it to other actual, proven science, the recipe for Mark McAlpin’s adultero solatium (the Latin words for unfaithful marriage partner and compensation, or solace) theory combines raw numbers from his own investigative practice with a bit of arm-chair psychology and an unmeasured pour of biochemistry. Admittedly a scientific lay person, the PI says he has been rolling this theory around in his head for years, and the numbers have consistently evinced his hypothesis.

The theory basically builds on the well-known reliance of stressed or distressed people on the relief found in their indulgence in ‘comfort food.’

“The human body wants to feel good. When people face physical, emotional or even mental pain or stress, they normally engage in activities that will either remove the pain or counter it with pleasure. Chocolate, ice cream, booze, a hot bath or log massage, illegal drugs, pick your poison,” he said. “Diluted to it’s simplest explanation it’s all about brain chemistry. The serotonin effect is a pleasurable response to a situation. People naturally want to feel good. The worse they feel, the greater their desire to feel good. People who are stressed out, upset or worse, actively seek out pleasure to dull the pain. The worse the pain, the more powerful the trigger for pleasure. The most powerful triggers are associated with the greatest pleasures: food, drugs and sex. This theory is only different from the accepted psychological responses in that it rightly includes the sexual and/or emotional pleasure sought from people other than the afflicted’s significant other.”

McApin’s theory is based solely on data he’s culled from his skip tracing website http://Cellulartrace.com. The site, which offers reverse lookup phone number traces, has always counted infidelity investigations among its customer’s top reasons for ordering his services. But the investigator says search requests based on suspicions of a cheating spouse have greatly increased during periods of economic stress. He has also mapped increased search requests from geographical areas particularly effected by negative economic factors.

“The post 9/11 economy absolutely buried us with requests,” McAlpin recalls.

Although customers don’t always confess the reason for the investigations they request, McAlpin says trends are pretty easy to spot.

“When the vast majority of searches are suddenly women asking you to investigate other women, it is pretty clear what is happening. When investigations involving people seeking info on people of their same sex jumps from 70 to 90 percent in the weeks following 9/11 or a ton of new customers from the Palo Alto area spring up after the first round of HP lay offs, it’s pretty hard to dismiss the trends,” he said.

McAlpin said he has seen similar increases in cell phone lookup requests in other geographical areas following disasters and major layoffs or plant closings.

“There are obviously smaller examples of this, but I don’t look into every increase from every area. There are clearly layoffs, factory closings and fires and other disasters all over the country. I’m sure the theory is exemplified in those situations, as well,” said McAplin.

It has been statistically shown that in the vast majority of suspected infidelities, the suspected parties were in fact cheating. It stands to reason then, that the more suspicion of infidelity, as evinced by such requests for information for that stated purpose, the more actual cheating in that area. And with a spike in cheating following an economic or emotional blast, the benefit of whatever doubt is sure to come from professionals in the field of the human psyche should certainly be given to the adultero solatium theory.

The lack of definitive detail and corroborating outside evidence supporting the theory will surely lead some to dismiss the merits of the hypothesis. But McAlpin says this doesn’t bother him in the least.

“I have no plans to write a dissertation on this, I just find it interesting. If this theory helps someone discover a potential infidelity, or better yet avoid hanging a scarlet ‘A’ on themselves or seeing one on their spouse, great. If those in the behavioral field see some merit, maybe someone will conduct some research that will bear the seal of scientific approval. For me it is just an interesting footnote to the way I track business trends,” he said.

The investigator’s popular website http://Cellulartrace.com has helped thousands with infidelity advice including recognizing the signs of a cheating spouse, how to catch them, and the phone number tracing investigations he specializes in.

The Effect of Stress on the Immune System: FAQ

Here we answer some commonly asked questions about the effect of stress on the immune system, as well as questions like “how do you boost your immune system”. We have found that these are frequently asked questions and hope to help people find their answers.

What is the effect of stress on the immune system?

Short term stress like dealing with an attack or playing a sport does not negatively affect the immune system. The spleen is instructed to release more red and white blood cells. The red blood cells increase oxygen supply to the lungs and heart while the white blood cells are directed to portions of the body most likely to be injured or become infected, namely the skin, bone marrow and lymph nodes.

Chronic stress, on the other hand, appears to blunt immune system responses. Studies have shown that those who work in high pressure jobs, have continuous financial problems, marital difficulties or any of the other problems that can cause chronic stress, have lower than normal white blood cell counts, are more vulnerable to colds and other viruses, take longer to recover from them and experience worse symptoms than do people who are under less stress.

How do you boost your immune system?

There are many ways, including good nutrition and proper rest. There are a number of dietary and health supplements that can boost the immune system including Vitamin C, Andrographis paniculata (AP) and Beta Glucans.

How do you boost your immune system if you are under chronic stress?

If you cannot reduce the stress in your life, then vitamins and health supplements are the only choice.

Can supplements counteract the effect of stress on the immune system?

Clinical studies have not been done concerning the improvement in immune system responses among people who use health supplements and are under chronic stress. Studies have shown that AP increases white blood cell counts in person’s using the herb, which could counteract the lowered white blood cell counts in persons under chronic stress.

How do you boost your immune system if you work or live in a high risk environment?

People at higher risk for infection can benefit greatly from the use of a health supplement for immune system enhancement. For more information about products that naturally boost immune system performance, visit http://www.immune-system-booster-guide.com.

Heal Grief - Connect with Spirit

As the loss of a loved one can be one of the greatest challenges in life and connecting to with spirit can be a life changing experience. Whether you lose a loved one, a relationship or a job, most people feel some degree of grief when such an event occurs. Mediumship provides just one of the tools to help come to terms with the loss in a positive manner.

“As a Medium, I deliver more than messages” Amirah says, “I help to confirm that once our physical body dies, our ’spirit’ lives on, and that we as spirits remain connected to relatives, friends and loved ones..”

In the case of the loss of a loved one, especially a spouse, the feeling of loneliness and concern for the future can be emotionally devastating. While grief is a normal and usually healthy response to loss, it can become unhealthy and counterproductive if it persists too long. Do you believe that grief is a feeling that cannot or should not be changed?

Susan contacted me initially because a close friend passed away and she was having problems moving on with her own life. She still felt the depression and pain of the tragic loss but felt ready to make some changes. Any skepticism Susan had about the process soon faded when her friend expressed things only they would know.

Release Guilt, Shame and Blame

Susan wanted answers to questions that plagued her. She wanted to know why her friend committed suicide and what he was doing now. She received that and more. Her friend communicated things that would happen and they did. Within a week Susan received validation to promises her friend made to her and got closure. She was now ready to move on with her life.

Forgive Yourself and the Deceased

Those who died a violent death (suicide, accident or murder) can still be earthbound. They need energetic help to take their next step along their path. You can send healing from this side of the veil to assist them in the process. In healing yourself, you heal others.

Time to Let Go

Susan didn’t know what it meant to reprogram or clear her energy. But, she did know she was lethargic with heavy depression due to her loss. Although skeptical, Susan was ready to make some changes. She was ready to finally LET GO. She was ready to allow things that were meant to HAPPEN come into her life!

Activate Hope and Faith for the Future

Later the same day, after the energy clearing, Susan felt better. She didn’t do anything different; she just felt more positive and lighter. Connecting to her friend gave her closure. She regained faith in herself. She felt hopeful again and enthusiasm for life began to bubble up from within.

Confirmation of Life After Death

As the week progressed, Susan continued to receive validation of her friend’s promises to her. Things actually happened as Amirah communicated they would. There is comfort in knowing that life continues after our spirit leaves our body.

Resolve Unfinished Business

After life communication helps you reclaim your right to live fully while helping the departed spirit go on with its own journey. When you know you can continue to communicate and resolve unfinished business, if frees you up to live fully.

Reclaiming Your Life

Susan didn’t think this could all happen so quickly and felt she could never do it alone. This was a turning point for her though as she received answers and information needed to live a happier life.

“If I can help people connect with a deeper part of themselves or someone on the other side, and bring more peace, comfort and possibly closure - then I’ve done my job.” - AMIRAH

Tai Chi for Health and Balance

I’ll always remember my visits to San Francisco and passing groups of older adults in the parks, practicing Tai Chi. Just watching them brought peace, and you could tell they were entirely involved in their activity. It has always interested me, but I have to admit I have yet to experience it. However, just recently, at a Mindful Eating workshop, we did ‘purposeful walking’, taking very slow and controlled steps ‘with intention’. We could feel every single muscle working as we minutely and consciously lifted a foot, moved it forward, and placed it in front of the other one. This reminded me of what Tai Chi might be like.

But what is Tai Chi, why do people practice it, and can anyone do it?

Tai Chi was originally a deadly art, guarded by a few families and used for killing. Traditionalists believe that it is important for students of this ancient art to remember its roots, because the techniques of relaxation and breath control were developed for the express purpose of injuring the opponent in an efficient, scientific manner.

Today, of course, we no longer need to practice this martial art for the purpose of killing our enemy. However, some say that now we can use this practice to fight the enemy of fatigue, stress, overwork or lack of understanding of oneself and one’s body. Daily practice of Tai Chi promotes mental clarity and a healthy body, assists with balance and helps the circulation of the blood.

Someone doing Tai Chi (pronounced “tie chee”) will move slowly and gently, while breathing and meditating. This is why it is sometimes called “moving meditation”. Many practitioners believe that Tai Chi helps the flow throughout the body of a proposed vital energy called qi (pronounced “chee,” it means “air,” “puff,” or “power”). In the United States, Tai Chi for health purposes is part of complementary and alternative medicine, or CAM. People who practice Tai Chi do so to improve their health, yet it is not fully known what changes occur in the body during Tai Chi, and whether it does, in fact, influence health.

Over the years, several styles and variations have been developed. Taoist Tai Chi was introduced to the US by Master Moy Lin-shin, which emphasizes more elongating and stretching movements. Tai Chi Chuan is descended from the Lang family, but has several family variations. Someone doing Tai Chi for health moves in a slow and relaxed and graceful way, either on one’s own or in a group. These movements make up forms (or routines). Some movements are named for animals or birds. The simplest style of Tai Chi uses 13 movements, while more complex styles can use dozens - Taoist Tai Chi has 108 basic moves. Each of these movements flows into the next. The whole body is in motion, with movements performed gently and at the same speed. It is important to keep the body upright.

Like other CAM approaches, there are aspects of Tai Chi which everyone does not agree. Since there is little known scientifically about it, accepting its teachings is a matter of faith rather than evidence-based science. Also, in addition to more traditional styles, some blends of Tai Chi styles have evolved, such as those mentioned above. This creates a differing of opinion of which styles represent “true” Tai Chi.

Other important elements in Tai Chi are breathing and meditation. It is important to concentrate, breathe in a deep and relaxed manner. The benefits of this breathing and meditation include massaging the internal organs, helping with the exchange of gases in the lungs, helping the digestive system, increasing calmness and improving balance.

Health benefits of Tai Chi:

People practice Tai Chi for several health reasons, such as:

• To gain benefits from exercise. It is a low-impact form of exercise. It’s also weight-bearing, which is beneficial to the bones. Additionally, it is an aerobic form of exercise.

• To improve muscle strength, coordination, and flexibility.

• To improve balance. To have a lower risk for falls, beneficial for the elderly.

• To easy arthritis pain and stiffness.

• For health benefits from the meditation.

• To improve sleep and overall wellness.

Although Tai Chi for health is considered a safe practice, it is always recommended to check with your healthcare provider before beginning any type of exercise.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

• If your body is improperly positioned while doing Tai Chi, you could not only end up with sore muscles, but even sprains.

• Instructors recommend not practicing Tai Chi after eating, when tired, or when you are ill.

• Caution should be used if you have any of these conditions: Pregnancy, hernia, joint problems, back pain, sprains, fractures or osteoporosis.

In the US, people do not have to be health professionals or licensed to practice or teach Tai Chi. It is not regulated by state or Federal governments and there is no standard training for Tai Chi teachers. If you are considering learning Tai Chi, ask about your teacher’s training and experience. Learning Tai Chi from a teacher is encouraged over learning from videos or books. This will help you to know if you are practicing the movements safely and correctly.

The idea that sickness and disease arise out of imbalances in a vital energy field is part of some other CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) therapies, such as Reiki and homeopathy. Within CAM, Tai Chi is a type of mind-body medicine. Mind-body medicine focuses on the interactions among the brain, body, mind and behavior, and the ways in which emotional, mental, social, spiritual and behavioral factors affect health.

More information on Tai Chi, and NCCAM-Funded Research on Tai Chi, can be found at the NCCAM (National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine) website at http://nccam.nih.gov/health/taichi/.

Tai Chi has been around for centuries, but practicing it as a healing activity is relatively new. If it’s something you have ever had an interest in, find someone educated in the practice and give it a try! I’ll look forward to seeing you out in the park one day, totally focused on balancing your qi.

Adopting A Cat

Cats are sweet and cuddly! It’s easy to get swept up in the emotion and buy a cat without thinking. But that’s not how it should be.

Whether or not to adopt a cat is by no means an easy decision. It carries with it huge responsibility. You will have to take care of a cat until its death, which could be in 15 to 20 years. In addition, you should be ready to spend a large amount of your time feeding the cat, grooming it, and playing with it on a daily basis.

Keep the following points in mind before deciding to adopt a cat:

1. Prior to bringing a cat home, it is essential to know if any member of your household is allergic to cats. Having to get rid of your new pet would be cruel.

2. Cats are social animals and need regular attention and care. They must not be left alone for extended periods, nor be handled roughly, as this will make them aggressive and nervous.

3. Cat care can take a financial toll. You must ensure that you have sufficient funds to take care of your cat’s food, toys, medication, and so on.

4. Decide whether you want to adopt a kitten or an adult cat. The only advantage of getting a kitten is that kittens are cute. On the other hand, an adult cat has a well defined personality. Moreover, adult cats are more likely to be litter-box trained and less likely to scratch every bit of furniture in your house.

5. Children and cats can prove to be a bad combination, especially if the child is very young. He or she may mistreat the cat (knowingly or unknowingly) and get a nasty bite in return.

6. A cat requires proper care and medical treatment. This includes annual check-ups, vaccines, and prescription medication for any health problems that could occur.

7. It does not really matter whether you get a female cat or male cat; both genders are equally affable. However, always have your cat spayed or neutered. This helps avoid the unhealthy effects of the mating season in female cats and curb aggression in males.

8. Cat adoption is the most humane way to get a cat, due to the large number of homeless felines. However, it helps to remember that sometimes cats from the animal shelter can be prone to stress. Moving a cat to a home environment allows it to relax and show its true personality. Cats are creatures of habit — they don’t like change. It may take them a month or more to adjust to your home.

Keeping these points in mind when choosing to adopt a cat can help you find the feline that is right for you. It’s a big decision, don’t leave it to chance!

Adult Cats are Fun Too - Adopt An Older Cat

You’ve finally made the decision to adopt a cat, you’ve dreamt about it for quite some time. Visualising your cute new little kitten playing around the floor and looking up at you with those big baby blues. What could possibly go wrong, after all it’s only a tiny kitten. But have your really thought about how much time, effort and trouble a kitten really is. A kitten is packed full of energy and curiosity and will cry for attention, scratch the furniture, bite and urinate everywhere until it is litter box trained, and will run around the house getting into all sorts of scrapes and trouble. And it’s up to you to look after them 24/7. If you’ve got the time and dedication to look after a kitten, great, but if not, why not think about adopting an adult cat.

A lot of potential adopters seem to think of an adult cat as second best, as if they are defective or worn out like a second hand car. That’s just not the case. Most adult cats have found themselves in animal shelters from no fault of their own. They may have out lived their owner, their owners may have moved to somewhere that doesn’t allow pets, become lost or someone in the family may have become allergic to them. The reasons are far to numerous to list them all. The cats themselves are perfectly healthy animals, bristling with fun and energy and simply looking for a caring loving home.

Adopting an adult cat has many advantages. Remember an older cat has already developed its personality. So you will know what kind of pet they will be and whether or not they will suit your family. Many people go for the cute little kitten; only to find out that they grow into a very shy and non-playful cat that likes to spend all it’s time away from the family. That’s fine if that’s what you want, but too many people decide that this is not for them and returns the cat to the shelter. Rejection is a very harsh punishment for the cat just because you didn’t take the time to think about what sort of cat would be the right pet for your family.

An older cat will also be less demanding of your time than a kitten and will require less supervision, well after the first few weeks anyway. They will be able to spend time alone when you are out of the house without getting into too much trouble and hopefully will already be litter trained.

There are also many benefits for older owners in adopting an adult cat. Adult cats are much calmer and more likely to want to spend some quiet time sitting on your lap for strokes and purring. Studies have shown that cats can have a real health benefit for humans in reducing their stress levels and blood pressure. I can’t image an energetic curious kitten being as good for your stress levels somehow.

Many worry about health problems and vet bills for the older cat. Usually when you are adopting a cat from an animal shelter they will be able to let you know if the cat has any underlining medical conditions and what it is likely to cost. Many will even provide you with free medical treatment for your cat if they over 10 years old as an incentive for more of the older cats to be re-homed.

Cats can live well into their late teens and even early twenties with all the advances in food nutrition and medical treatments. So that 12 year old cat waiting in the animal shelter for a good home is still a good bet and will still be able to provide you with many years of fun and love. Our own cat is now 14 years old and still behaves like a playful youngster and keeps us entertained for hours.

It can be a very rewarding experience to adopt an older cat, not only because of the pleasure they will give you over the years but also in the knowledge that you have provided a loving home for what was probably a very frightened and confused cat, who had no idea why he had lost his family.

Hypnosis - 10 Practical Tips To Make Hypnotic Induction Successful At First Attempt

I have trained hundreds of thousands of people in my seminars and workshops with practical demonstrations on how to induce hypnosis successfully. And during the course of my 30 years of experience practicing hypnosis, I have come across countless people asking for tips for hypnotic induction since most of them have failed in one way or the other in Inducing Hypnosis successfully.

The problems these inexperienced hypnotists face while inducing hypnosis and the advise that I had given to countless of them are provided here so that this article will form as basis for the newbie hypnotists to practically learn and implement how to induce hypnosis successfully at first attempt.

The understanding between the hypnotist and the subject is very crucial. And to establish this compatibility, the hypnotists must spell out exactly what he is going to do with the subject as well as what is expected from the subject. The rapport further can be established with these points:

a. The hypnotist must also dispel all misconceptions that there will not be any unconsciousness, the subject can wake up easily, and that he will not reveal the secrets.

b. The hypnotist should advise the subject concentrate on the suggestion given to him.

c. He should also stress that subject’s wishes will be followed in formulating suggestions.

What I have also found in most hypnotists is lack of confidence in their ability to induce hypnosis, this reflects dramatically in the subjects mind simply because the subject picks up this insecurities and hesitancy of the hypnotist with the suggestions. Therefore, it is very imperative that the hypnotist believes in himself and approaches with a positive attitude expecting a successful induction.

The suggestions are meant to be based on basic common sense and logic avoiding deception. This is where the difference between controlling and fooling the subject lies.

Now I am going to reveal the 10 most useful, practical and potent tips to achieve a successful hypnotic induction:

1. First and foremost, there is no such thing as good subject or bad subject (people being hypnotized). Hypnotizibility depends on the fear the subject has. If there is no fear in the mind of the subject deep stage of hypnosis is possible. It is always better to remove all fears before beginning the induction process.

2. When you start hypnotizing somebody do that with suggestibility tests like “hand clasp test, falling backward, falling forward, arm catalepsy test,”. These tests are very easy to use. The success in these simple tests will create a belief in you that you will do better in advanced techniques.

3. The subject receives and follows the suggestions when he is completely comfortable during the induction process. He could lose focus and interrupt the induction process if he feels a slightest discomfort or inconvenience. These interruptions become obstacles leading to an inevitable failure. Therefore the location and seating should be comfortable. Unavoidable external sounds or distractions can be used as reinforcement in induction.

4. Remarks such as this is also very helpful “If you follow my simple XYZ suggestions, such as looking at a place where I point, or closing your eyes, counting yourself, imaging, thinking, feeling, that your legs are getting heavier and heavier, you will follow other more complex suggestions.

5. One more technique that I found very effective is as follows “The ability to achieve hypnosis is within you. I do not hypnotize you. You do. I will not force you into hypnosis. However, if you really wish to be hypnotized at your own pace and by your own effort, all you have to do is to follow the XYZ suggestions. If you follow these in sequence, you should readily develop a nice, pleasant state of relaxation, provided that you really wish to reach the ultimate goal of very, very deep relaxation”.

6. It is always better to repeat words like relax, going deeper and deeper into relaxation. This increases relaxation.

7. It is better to first build simple suggestions of ideosensory and ideomotor sequentially followed by advanced ones. This process is helps to remove voluntary movements and favorable to hypnotic relaxation. For example “With each breath (idiomatic) you take and every number you count backward (ideosensory), you will allow yourself to go deeper and deeper relaxation..

8. To facilitate the process of acceptance of suggestions it would be a better idea to reinforce a psychological suggestion (ideosensory) by a physiological effect, such as lightly stroking limb.

9. Go slow when giving suggestions allowing ample time for each suggestion to be absorbed.

10. Never ever tell the subject that he was difficult to induce. Always use positive words such as “You did a fantastic job, and you will do a better job next time”.

11. It is perfectly normal that some people are difficult to go into hypnosis. Never blame them for this. Instead of condemning for the failure, give them a pat on the back and say a few words of encouragement.

12. Now you will learn a simple technique on how to hypnotize successfully in first attempt. Don’t tell the person that you are hypnotizing him. You can use progressive relaxation. Look for the sign and when the person is in a relaxed state give him a positive suggestion that would be beneficial for him.

And awaken him by giving him specific instructions such as..

“I’m now going to awaken you by counting from 1 to 3. On the counting of 3, you will awaken, feeling good, refreshed & rested as a result of these brief minutes of deep hypnosis relaxation. It is amazing what a few minutes of hypnosis can do to you. Now, 1… coming out slowly, 2… yes, coming out now, 3…open your eyes feeling light refreshed and revitalized happy and cheerful, feeling much better than before.

After the subject opens his eyes ask him how much time he was under hypnosis, he will say a few minutes. He says that because you gave him a suggestion during awakening [a few minutes of deep hypnosis relaxation] but actually the time is more than a few minutes.

You can show him the watch to prove it. This is the power of suggestions.

Rubber Stamps : 10 Great Tips For Making Multiple Cards

You know the feeling. The kids have tons of demands, vacation is just around the corner, that big project at work is eating all of your free time. How will you ever make those handmade cards for the big party, or mail the invitations for the guests at the big wedding? What started out as a great idea for some very special cards has turned into a stressful project. These ten simple steps will maximize your time and free up your creativity when making multiple cards for any size project.

1. Determine and plan your cardmaking schedule. Do you want to set aside a few hours or just 30 minutes at a time? Pick a design suitable for the available time. Make a simple “assembly line” schedule to maximize the time you have to spend on the project.

2. Work on individual elements, individually. It may sound silly, but working on one element of the cards will retain the “look” of the cards while creating a “unity” among them. Start by stamping all of the impressions, then work on cutting out all of the backgrounds, folding all of the paper, tearing all of the sheets simultaneously. You don’t want to spend too much time on any one card.

3. Have a party! Kids and relatives love to involved. Make the work fun and don’t be overly concerned about the smaller details of the project. You will ultimately put all of the individual components together, giving you plenty of time to add any special touches. Working together with other people will also add a new level of uniqueness to your cards.

4. Stop writing. One of the most frustrating tasks of mass producing cards is hand writing messages. Find “handwriting fonts” available online, at your nearest craft supply store, or your local computer store. Sign the finished card or pen in any details or RSVP information as you would with a store purchased card.

5. Use a paper trimmer. If you need a fast way to make background frames or trim down embellishments, scissors just won’t cut it! Stacking paper in 5-10 sheet groups and trimming all at once will provide perfect multiple shapes. Often, your scraps can be stacked in such a way to trim them into useable pieces with a trimmer. Rotary trimmers will also allow you to add perfect “scalloped” edges to the base of the card(s).

6. Punch It. Remember your time is valuable. Whether it’s a heart, circle, flower, even a fork and spoon, your local craft store will have a perfect punch for the card. Cutting out shapes by hand is tedious and rarely looks well. Circles can be particularly difficult.

7. Stamp, Stamp, Stamp. When placing stamped images on a card, use one stamp at a time and make as many impressions as needed. Don’t clean stamps or switch colors until all of the cards have been stamped. This keeps your ink pads from becoming “mixed” and makes the impressions uniform.

8. Avoid difficult embellishments. I am sure that rows of bows, lines of brads, or glued dots would look wonderful on each card. Finding a simpler alternative will save you hours. Paper tears, taped bows, even stylish stickers can be just as attractive without the hours of difficult handy work.

9. Customize backgrounds. If you absolutely must have a “look” provided by a stamped background, make a “master” copy on white paper EXACTLY how it should look. Scan the paper design into a computer at 300 dpi. (If you’re already confused, spend a minute with the scanner manual.) Print onto colored cardstock or paper. When done properly, no one will even notice!

10. Have fun?with a budget. These are the two biggest factors when mass producing cards. You don’t want to get partway through the project only to realize you have far overspent your intended budget. That special patterned paper and those cute hologram stickers can max out the cost of the cards. Alternatively, when the project simply becomes a duty, it is unlikely you will ever finish. Remember to always plan lots of time. After all, this is by far the greatest hobby in the world!

10-Question Checklist to Select the Right Brain Fitness Program for You

Unless you have been living in a cave, you have read by now multiple articles about the brain training and brain exercise craze: sudoku, Nintendo BrainAge, multiple online games, software like MindFit and Posit Science…

How do you know which of them can help you more, or whether you need any of them? Well, that’s why we are publishing the SharpBrains Checklist below, to help you navigate through the overwhelming and conflicting media reports and company announcements.

We have spent over 18 months interviewing scientists and reviewing available Brain Fitness and Exercise Programs worldwide, and we are going to share with you, right now, the research-based criteria we use to evaluate them.

***** 10 Questions to Choose the Right Brain Fitness Program for You (and a brief explanation of why each question is important)*****

* 1. Are there scientists, ideally neuropsychologists, and a scientific advisory board behind the program?

(Neuropsychologists specialize in measuring and understanding human cognition and brain structure and function.)

* 2. Are there published, peer-reviewed scientific papers in PubMed written by those scientists? How many?

(PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes millions of citations science journals. If a scientist has not published a paper that appears in that database, he or she cannot make scientific claims.)

* 3. What are the specific benefits claimed for using this program?

(Some programs present the benefits in such a nebulous way that it is impossible to tell if they will have any results or not.)

* 4. Does the program tell me what part of my brain or which cognitive skill I am exercising, and is there an independent assessment to measure my progress?

(The question is whether the improvement experienced in the program will transfer into real life. For that to happen we need assessments that are distinct from the exercises themselves.)

* 5. Is it a structured program with guidance on how many hours per week and days per week to use it?

(Brain exercise is not a magic pill. You have to do the exercises in order to benefit, so you need clarity on the effort required.)

* 6. Do the exercises vary and teach me something new?

(The only way to exercise important parts of our brain is by tackling novel challenges.)

* 7. Does the program challenge and motivate me, or does it feel like it would become easy once I learned it?

(Good brain exercise requires increasing levels of difficulty)

* 8. Does the program fit my personal goals?

(Each individual has different goals/ needs when it comes to brain health. For example, some want to manage anxiety, others to improve short-term memory…)

* 9. Does the program fit my lifestyle?

(Some brain exercise programs have great short-term results but are very intense. Others may be better over time)

* 10. Am I ready and willing to do the program, or would it be too stressful?

(Excess stress reduces, or may even inhibit, neurogenesis-the creation of new neurons-. So, it is important to make sure not to do things that stress us in unhealthy ways.)

We hope this information is useful. Now, go and exercise your brain!
